Default Credit repair help?

I have never had much in the way of credit card debt, and I have no judgements, etc for any type of commercial debt.

Well, let me say this..I haven't pulled my credit report in about 3 years due to major fear lol. My exhusband screwed up my credit more than I thought he did (I was young and stupid and let him handle things), so I have some collections on there I know from that period. Anything since then is medical bills due to the fact I A) had a baby via c-section with no medical insurance, and B) was in a head on car collision (not my fault!!!) again with no medical insurance, and also no car insurance which I did not know at the time (thank the exhusband for THAT one too..he was supposed to be paying it per our divorce decree but had cancelled my policy). So anyways..point being, I know my credit isn't..horrid horrid horrid...it's around 550, but 7 years ago it was over 750!!!!

I don't have any idea how to go about fixing it! I don't know what things I should try to make payment arrangements on, what things I should leave alone, or contest. I'm lost! Any help would be appreciated, I know some of you have been down this road!!! Thanks in advance!

First step -- pull your credit reports. It's free.

You need to pull your credit report, and do an action plan. You could negotiate with creditors to remove negative marks off your credit if you pay them a specific amount. Everything is negotiable.

I would try to get in touch with a company that specializes in credit repair. They might charge you a couple hundred dollars, but it is well worth the cost if it saves you thousands in interest rates. Try doing a google search for credit repair, and you will definitely come up with something. Also you could check out http://www.instantinfo4you.com/finance to see if they have an article to explain this a little better. Good luck.

No, it's just an article website that might possibly have an article that would be helpful. Check it out and see, or at least do a google search. Seriously though a professional company is the way to go.

The problem is that you can't tell which are the "professional" companies. Anyone can create a pretty website and make lots of promises. Unfortunately, many of these operations are run by scam artists who steal your money and wreck your credit even more in the process.

Yes, but there are also some professional companies out there too. Not everyone on the internet is a scam artist. There are plenty of legit business online. You just have to check them out a little more, and really investigate before you spend any money or give away any kind of sensitive info.
