Default Do you play the lottery?

I know that the odds of winning the lattery are pratically nothing, but I can't stop myself. I don't think I will win and I know it's a waste of money, but just the thought of my co-workers winning and me not would drive me crazy. Is anyone else in a situation like this. Do you play the lottery or how do you say no to the people at work when they are collecting for it?

We pick up an ocassional stratch ticket. My hubby will go into a pool at work when the jackpot is big that is only $5.00 or so maybe once or twice a year.

That is quite a dilemma. The chances are astronomical that your group would win, but I can understand your feeling if they did and you had been left out. I think the best thing to do is decide one way or the other. If you decide to continue to participate, then look at it a entertainment like playing a few slot machines at Vegas. If you don't, don't even think about if they might win cause the odds are they won't. Easier said than done, I know, but it will make the issue a lot less stressful if you can decide one way or the other.

I play bingo as a social event, but that is the extent of it. I have never been intrigued by the lottery.

I used to play the lottery but now I haven't even supported the North Carolina Education Lottery since they started it, I figure I like my money too much to throw it away.

I don't know why you feel that way. It just makes me laugh inside, knowing full well that I'll see them tomorrow.

No, I don't play it.

I think it is like gabling, which is not something nice.

I believe it breeds my greedy feelings.

just my 2 cents

I buy tickets usually when it gets to big bucks, or should I say really big bucks. But just $1 each time.

Used to play years ago. The Oklahoma lottery is still fairly new but I haven't bought one ticket yet.

I don't play usually, but i have occasionally bought scratch off cards. Sometimes we get them in Christmas cards, and they're fun... we usually win at least something. But I doubt I'd ever play on a regular basis, even if I had a little extra money. Maybe I'd go in on a pot with my dad and his coworkers when the pot is absolutely astronomical, which I've only been tempted to do maybe twice in the past five years.

Dh plays the scratch off's here & there. We don't get anything for like Megabucks on a regualr basis unless the jack pot is up there, wich is kinda dumb cause the odds are higher.

I play occasionally, but I consider any money spent on lottery tickets or any other gambling to be entertainment, not investment. Unfortunately, a great many people consider it to be a form of investing. And statistics show that the vast majority of lottery tickets are bought by the poorest segment of the population, the folks who can least afford to be squandering their money. That's why many people refer to the lottery as a tax on the poor (or on those lousy at math).

No, but I am not against it. I played a few times when it first started but never won anything, plus I always forget to look for the winning numbers!!

Never done it. Never will.

Over half of millionaires surveyed by Thomas Stanley have never bought a lottery ticket. That's got to say something.

I'm too lazy to run down to the convenience store so I just zip a few bills into the paper shredder.

Same end result, and I get to stay home!

When I was eight years old, my uncle decided to teach me to play poker. At the end of the game, he had won all my money.

I never gambled again.

I bought a ticket. It's 100,000 million dollars, numbers picked in an hour. Oh, how I do wish.
