Default Scams you should know

Lighthouse Credit Foundation and Integrated Credit Solutions "have agreed to settle FTC charges that they deceptively marketed themselves as a not-for-profit enterprise to entice financially distressed consumers to enroll in debt management plans, and then failed to deliver on promises of personalized credit counseling and dramatic and immediate interest rate reductions," according to the FTC.

Virginia company "Financing Alternative" provides financing for the sales of their computers through a layaway plan. The computer cost is around $1,650 with an APR of 21 percent. The plan calls for an auto-deduction of $35 per month with a $175 cancellation fee if they change their mind. One Indiana consumer has paid $950 and can't get her computer. 395 complaints have been filed against this company.

WhiteOverNite.com advertises via junk email. The offer is for a free trial of the White By Night product for teeth whitening. The company calls for a $3.95 shipping/handling fee but them auto-enrolls the person into a 60-day auto-ship program which will total up to $106.90 in charges.

Ultralife Fitness offers free diet pills for a 30-day trial and then charges the consumer without authorization.

i see ads for rent to own things all the time. One company advertised computers. By the time you paid their monthly charge for about 2 years, you over paid for the computer about 3 times over. How can people be that stupid??
