Do you mean introduction offers with no fee balance transfers?
HSBC - 0% on balance transfers for 12 months online and offline. Their welcome checks are 0% also. (Purchases too) CitiDividend Amex has 0% bt for 12 to 15 months (They do charge a fee on purchases) Citi Simplicity has 0% on bt and purchases for 12 months. The transaction fee for cash advances is 3% of the amount of each cash advance, $5 minimum |

I've had lots of offers of free balance transfers . . . I've never done any of them. I have heard that you can call and negotiate with your current card -- if you're a customer in good standing. I do know that whatever you do it's really really really important to read the fine print! (I've never seen any offers with free cash advances BTW.)

I've got two balance transfer offers in my file at the moment that carry no transfer fees. Both are on cards I've held for years, and both have rates for the life of the transfer.
One of the ways to get transfer offers is to make transfers. That sounds a bit odd, but lenders tend to promote products they believe the recipient will use. I have a history of aggressively exploiting balance transfers, so I get frequent offers. |

Just stay away from cash advances! I fell into that trap once. DD came home on a Sunday and I needed money (banks were closed and no debit card at the time), so I thought I'd just take a cash advance. Simple, right??? Wrong!!!
First of all it had a higher interest rate and second...if you carry a balance on your cc (and I did at that time) any extra money you send for payment goes towards the regular cc debt (lower interest rate). For the next couple of months I tried to pay off the cash advance by sending in the amount owed (plus the regular payment) but as I said, they would just apply it toward the amount owed for purchases. I finally had to call the cc company and get an exact quote on the amount due for the cash advance so that I could send a check and pay it off! |
