Do you want to become a millionaire?
If so, what is your financial plan to achieve this goal? Do you think you’ll eventually make it? How much of a priority is it in your life?
Personally, I would love to. But, it’s not a high priority. I’d rather live “comfortably” and not have to work insane hours towards this goal. I have some friends that work 85 hours a week. They want a bigger house and more stuff. They make twice as much as me. But, they work twice as many hours and never see their kids or family. I’d rather see my family

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
Do you want to become a millionaire? Many times over.
How? Wise investments, mainly in personal businesses, living below my means, being united w/ my spouse, taking calculated financial risks.
Priority? Pretty high. Only because I have ideas for what I want to do after becoming "secure" (whatever that means).
Will I make it? I sure hope so.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
Right along the same line as everyone else. Chug and plug, little by little, but you'll not see much of a a change in me when I get there.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
You almost have to be a millionaire in order to retire if you don't have a pension plan.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
My primary objective is financial freedom. To me, aspiring to become a millionaire is just a subsequent yardstick towards that objective.
Conceptually, I plan to do so by spending less and making more at the same time.
Yes, it is entirely possible for me to make it. The question is "when". Assuming that nothing else changes, and I continue on the road that I am currently on, I won't make it until 75. However, I believe I still have substantial potential in increasing my overall earnings, so I am optimistic that it won't take that long.
Being a millionaire, however, isn't that high on my list of priority because, again, my real objective is financial freedom. If it takes a million to do so, then so be it. But if it takes more than that, well, I suppose I can live with that too.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
Financial freedom and contentedness is my goal. Some people can find happiness with just a dollar in their pocket, others need billions before they'll feel satisfied. I don't aspire to unattainable heights but, OTOH, with a family to support I should probably try for more than the buck.
We could retire today if we had 2.5 million in the bank (living off interest only)... but we'd get bored.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
I absolutely want/need to become a millionaire 2 or 3 times over to be able to retire when I want to (age 62). But I am a high wage earner, so accumulating a nest egg of 2.5 million isn't unreasonable at all.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
I'll admit, it's not a formal plan...but I do remember hearing that you would need to put $100 a month away starting when you were 25 to become a millionaire. DH and I started our Roth IRAs two years ago at 26, putting $4k/year in each, so we should be able to hit it, although this year we are not going to make the max contributions due to him returning to school full time. I think we'll still be in pretty good shape though.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
Hubby and I are both retired now and though it would have been great to be millionaires at this point in our lives, we're happy with what we do have and it will afford us to be comfortable but NOT rich. We do have each other and we are HAPPY! That says a lot.
Life is good!

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
No, I just want to have enough money so that I can live comfortably. Have a small home, maybe a child or two ( maybe adopt). Have a job that I enjoy doing that has great benefits--so I can save for retirement--hope I can make it to 70 years of age. My life is challenging enough at age 35 with Fibromyalgia. Not to mention other ailments to boot.
Enough said, in other words, if I need some thing such as a pair of shoes, I do not want to decide if I can afford them or not because I have a bill to pay.
So I go from day to day and pay check to pay check. I love coupons and rebates and survey sites they do help out just a tad.
I have to agree with JoyJoy~ my husband and I have each other and that will never be better than to be a millionaire.
Yes,to dream about it and to actually having it happen, would be a god sent, to help us get to where we would like to be but, we probably will never be.
So I say, live each day to the fullest and do the best you can every day. I am happy when I put a smile on a person's face just by looking at them and tell them to try and slow down and enjoy what we do have because life is just TOO darn short.
There is someone out there who always has it worse that yourself. Even when you think it is not possible. I know I was there for many years.
Sorry for such a long a post.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
since we're still young (24 and 25 respectively) i believe and hope we will be someday although for now it is many years away... we just want a small home near family and to have enough money not to have to worry about paying the bills...
we live way below our means and plan to keep doing that...luckily we are very compatible in many areas including finance...
we are also trying to learn from those that are older, wiser, and wealthier... still have lots to learn... which this site is great for...
like many of you here it's a priority but not major priority... we have already decided that we won't sacrafice our quality of life and our family life to make lots of money.... it's enough to be comfortable and happy...

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
I'm reading the "Millionaire Mind" and it seems that a big factor in becoming a millionaire is income. Thought it can be done by living on an average wage and being an above-average saver, it seems that most millionaires found very profitable niches where they started doing their own thing. Perhaps we need a forum about increasing our incomes. I feel that's overlooked a bit too often.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
I am not stuck on a dollar amount. I want to continue to live frugally and be content with what we have.
I am 'training' my DH and I to live on less...while enjoying lifes 'freebies' more.
Right now, earning a huge wage is not as appealing to me as being home for my DD3 (high school years) and my elderly parents. ( I left a well paying job last year to be home for them)
After these commitments are done, I may change my mind. But for now, I am ENJOYING living a frugal, simple life.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
Jmjj I have accomplished that task on a very small income (about 26K-30K a year). The key to getting there for the average person is to make it tax free, spotting a value and the time to find them.
Another point is I really don't think a million is alot of money. All it does is buy a pretty average house in some parts of the country.

True. If you retire with $1 million, you can withdraw 4%/year, or $40,000. That won't go too far if you are used to making a lot more than that.

Re: Do you want to become a millionaire?
well, I am 32 (33 Sunday) and I don't know if I will ever have $1,000,000 in my life. By the time I retire, it wouldn't be worth as much anyway.
But, like most people, I just want to be debt free, have money for giving, have money to travel and to live, and have money to pass on.
That's all I want.
