Default Citi Dividend Card Members

I received this offer in the mail today.

"As a Citi cardmember you can get up to $200.00. Start by applying for a Citibank EZ checking account online. You'll have access to Citibank Online with FREE online bill payment. Citibank Online is free, convenient and was named Best of the Web by Forbes.com. It's easy to get up to $200.00. Here's all you need to do:

1. Go to offer.citibank.com and enter offer code CEW9

2. Apply for a Citibank EZ Checking account --it will only take you a few minutes.

3. Fund the account with $1,500.

4. Get $50 every 3 months if you pay 2 bills a month for a year using Citibank Online.

5. Get up to $200 --we'll automatically credit your Checking account.

So go to offer.citibank.com and enter offer code CEW9 or call 1-800-374-9500."

There is some fine print below on this offer too.

"This offer is not available at Citibank Financial Centers. To receive this offer, you must:

Open and fund a Citibank Regular Checking account in the Citibank EZ Checking pricing package at offer.com or call 1-800-374-9500 with a minimum initial deposit of $1,500 by 7/31/06.

Starting no later than the calendar month after the month in which your account is opened, pay 2 or more bills each calendar month for 3 consecutive months at citibankonline.com and receive $50.

If you qualify to receive the initial $50 and you continue to pay 2 bills a month for the next 3 months, you will receive another $50. This can continue for up to 12 months from account opening. A mamimum of $200.00 can be credited to your account. If at anytime during the 12 months you do not pay 2 bills within a month, you will no longer be eligible for any additional $50 credit(s). Each $50 will be credited to your Checking account within 90 days from the end of the statement period in which you met the requirements stated above."

To pay a bill online means that funds are debited from your account during the applicable time period. Account must be in good standing at the time of each of the $50 credits. All accounts are subject o approval. The amount of any bonus payment will be reported to the IRS as interest earned in the year credited. Offer only available for first time Citibank checking/deposit account customers s and is valid only once for any individual. Offer only available to Citi cardmembers. Non-U.S. residents and persons under 18 years of age are not eilgible. Offer may be modified or withdrawn at any time without notice and is not transferable."

It doesn't state how long you have to leave the $1,500.00 in the checking account or if this is a minimum that is always needed in the account.

Citibank is a good bank, but they did change the terms of my checking account with them in the past. I once opened a checking account with them for no fee or no minimum balance per month and free online bill payment. Then they changed that account to I must have $6,000.00 either in my checking or savings monthly or I would be charged a $12.50 fee per month. I closed the account! So far I am very pleased with my Citi Amex Dividend Card.
