If the TV is on whole day everyday, it will cost you about $10 in electricity. Depends on the size of the tv and the price of electricity in you area. so, I try not to watch it at all, only like a movie on dvd sometimes that we borrow from friends.

We pay about a $100 for Dish, DSL, and phone service. It was a bundled package.

The tv we bought a few years back in our spending days. A 32", I think. Heavy sucker, required two men to lift, has a flat front and cost about $500 at Wal-Mart. It's large enough to feel like a big screen but doesn't dominate our large room. I'm hoping it will last years and years. No complaints so far.

We pay around $115 a month for satellite and my dial up internet service (can't get dsl out here in the boondocks). I plan to cut our satellite down to a lower package saving at least $50 a month (we have the ultimate package right now) but I keep procrastinating about it because I admit - I am a couch potato. That's not including the cost of the electricity to run it.

Do you think it cost $10 to run a tv a month? I only watch mine usually when i am walking on my treadmill, but I would not think it would cost that much. Too bad we don't have a site that tells what appliances cost (on average) to run.

We pay about $60 per month, plus electricity costs. It's off most of the time, and I try to be good about catching myself doing mindless watching and turn it off.

That being said, I enjoy TV, and always have. I'm willing to pay for it, and while I think the charge is a bit high, it's the cheapest practical option we have.

It costs us $840 a year if I guesstimate in electricity. That's pretty cheap entertainment. $840 a year isn't going to make a huge difference in any of our plans, and it certainly wouldn't make up for the unpleasantness of not having TV.
