Do YOU have Unclaimed Property??

I was just perusing some of the Budgeting Articles and came across one that talked about the billions of dollars in unclaimed property being held by state treasury departments across the country. Coincidentally, this past month I successfully reclaimed just over $100 in unclaimed property that I didn't even know existed! I'd first heard about this on "Dateline NBC", looked into it, and a month later the check was in my hand.

Believe me, I thought I would be the LAST persion who would have unclaimed property anywhere, so if you've never looked into this, LOOK INTO IT! (As it happens, I did searches using the names of various relatives/friends and found two MORE people I know who have unclaimed property -- one of them being my father!)

Take a look at this thread to learn more about it. I go into a bit more detail about how I reclaimed my $103.17, and links are provided as well.

FYI -- there is NO CHARGE to submit an inquiry to your state's unclaimed property division, so if you come across a "service" that charges a fee, RUN!

Here's hoping some of you are as lucky as I was!

I don't, though i moved around a lot in different states in my 20s. However, I punched in the names of family members and lo and behold, it appears my deceased grandmother has some sort of unclaimed funds. I told my father and mailed him the paperwork to pursue the claim. That reminds me, i meant to follow up with him to make sure he did it!

I have looked up info for several people and some had money coming to them. One person had over a thousand dollars coming to them. I hate that there are people charging ridiculous sums of money for a free service.

My father got a notice in the mail that he had some property, but the third party wanted to charge him $50 to get it. He happened to mention it to me, a few clicks later, and he got his money by himself (well, with me showing him the link).
