Just out of curioisty...mention your state (or country) if you're so inclined.

Oregon- Just over $1600...purchased home for $136,000 10 years ago...value now appx $450,000
we also have state income tax but we do not have sales tax. Registration for vehicles is $35 for two years. |

That's interesting. I just paid $93 to register a 7-year-old car for one year. I think it was about $65 to register the 12-year-old car.
We also have state income taxes, and a sales tax as well. I voted in the $3000+ option. Living here is not cheap. ![]() |

Just over $3700: S.F. Bay Area, California (and that's WITH Prop 13) for a 800 SqFt house! Our property value has at least quadrupled in 15 years....

Mine were about $1400, but the first year I lived here they were only $600. I have a 3200 sq. ft. house with an extra 2 car garage with eff. apt. I live in rural north georgia, near the n.c. line. I guess mine are not as bad as most!

Southern NJ, about $4000. We also have income tax, and 6% sales tax which may be going up to 7%. (The state is running in the red, and that's one way they want to fix it.) Somewhere I saw a ranking of how heavy the tax burden was in different states. I think NY was the worst, followed by NJ.

$5000 in North Texas. Grrrrrr.......

I really shouldn't complain about my $24.00, then.
Next year will be terrible, as we've gotten a newer car and a house since then. |

ok..mine is a bit diffrent..i paid about 100 on my trailer. but i dont own the property. my mom on the other hand, who does own the property, paid over 3000 on her house (valued at over 150000) and her land (8 achers that we both live on).
as for our cars, we pay one set amount on licenceing no matter what year it is, that is i pay 78 for my 98 bravada, and 98 for my 83 pickup truck. btw, we live in illinois. have a good day ericka |

Gosh, so far mine are about the lowest and I live in a house worth over $500,000. I guess I had better not complain (or move away)

How do people pay so much in tax??
|
|

Ours was around $359.00 total for the year (this is the house only) . I live in Alabama.
For my car, I paid $99 total for tag and tax. It's a 2000 olds alero. |

Our 4 cars ran close to $400, the newest one cost the most. The two old antique ones were cheap.

$2,800 for a townhouse in a Chicago Suburb. I'm thinking $3,000 this year and not looking forward to it at all. I'm paying it before I leave for Greece and as soon as I get back... yuck.

$630 here in Oklahoma on a 1900 sqft home. We bought two years ago for a bargain, I bet we've doubled the value already. I'm sure they'll reasses soon and it'lll go up.
We pay taxes to state and sales tax. We pay taxes on everything! ugh. Might be why the property tax isn't too terrible. ![]() |
