Default ACH debits/credits to ING Direct, ED

Have anyone tried sending ACH debits or credits to ING Direct or ED from a different bank other than the ones in the linked accounts.

Usually, we link our accounts by sending ING Direct and ED a check from our checking account. So ING Direct and ED then takes the routing number and account number and create a link.

For example, I would like to create a link from my credit card company to ED so I can make my credit card payment from my ED account directly. I would give the credit card company ED's routing number and the account number. It will then be the credit card company that initiates the transfer.

Thanks!

Careful, most credit card companys do not want, ie won't process payments from non checking accounts. Check your T&Cs, also most put in 5 day clauses into your payments, so it might not be worth the hassle.

I'm not sure if it will work with ING, but I specifically asked ED about this and was told that they do allow you to pay credit card bills using your ED savings account.

You just have to be careful not to go over 6 transfers per month. I have't paid my credit cards with ED, but I have initiated an ACH transfer from HSBC and there were no problems.

Great! I hope ED will accept transfer requests from other financial institutions as well.

Thanks!
