Default World Savings has a 5.1% Liquid CD, 5 months, $100,000 max. Opinions?

With higher maximum deposit allowed, isn't this a pretty good deal? It is an online account only but this seems to be better than ING and HSBC's etc. Don't know where the rate will go after the 5 months though. Please continue to share all your great opinions.

Not sure what you meant by "nice try"..almost sounded accusatory, or I have some stake in the company. I will ignore that and hopefully not be taking that out of context. You seemed to have found something different than what I was talking about. Here's the link that I was referring too, if it doesn't work, please someone let me know. I'm not the best computer guy out there.

Looks good to me... Just fyi though, it is 5.01%, not 5.1%. Still a good deal, IMO.

I don't think he was accusing you of being in cohoots with World Savings. He just said nice try as thanks for trying to find a deal for the board.

I'll pass the info on to my dad - THANKS!!!

Thank you, OP!

A CD I had matured 2/27/06 and I was looking around for a nice short term rate like this one.

And it's LIQUID!

Not a bad deal if you have the time to sit in a bank and set up an account. Most working people don't have the time. I much prefer the convenience of using treasury direct and rolling over 28 day treasury bills with my short term cushion money which can be had for a smaller minimum (discounted $1000). If you figure in the tax savings your net is pretty much close to the same.

Followed the directions and applied online. Printed out the pages and went to the bank. They couldn't access the online info while I was there so they did some type of override. I asked if they could do an override why did I have to apply online? Those are the rules, is what they said.

Luckily they still had the signature card I signed for a CD deal in 2005 so all I had to do was sign it again.

World Savings does not issue CD certificates. You get an old fashioned passbook each time.
