That is a cool idea

You should ALWAYS pay on time becus late payments will affect your credit score and the interest rate you pay on any future loan.

I have a few times paid a credit card late due to being on vacation or whatever, and those times i called the company to complain about the fee, and since i am a good customer, they waived it and did not report it.

Fern, I think they only report when it goes past 30 days. So if you are 1-2 weeks late it won't show up on the report. I could be wrong, though.

I have had only a few late payments and kick myself when it doesn't happen.

I still think that gm carecredit (credit at dentist offices) hold onto the payment just to get late charges. I had a 3 way call with bank of america once with carecredit stating that my payment was electronically transfered to them in plently of time. Carecredit said it wasn't but they dropped with late fees and I never had once since with them.

Our biggest problem is citibank. The due date fluctuates. It can be anywhere from the 28th of the previous month to the 6th of the next month (more than a week difference) AND you can end up owing 2 payments in one month.

They've finally set up online payments and allow you to schedule payments. So dh schedules a payment as soon as he receives his bill.

I think they do it on purpose because not only can they catch you for late charges they also get to raise your interest rates.

I thought it was just us, but dh's grandmother (who is very organized about paying bills) kept having it happen to her, too. They threatened to cancel the card and were able to get citibank to agree to a set due date (for now).
