Default Do you worry about debt?

The vast majority of Britons simply do not care that they are in debt, new figures show.

While some 2.5 million UK residents have more than £10,000 in unsecured debts, seven out of ten of these are not worried about this and one in four would borrow more, the latest research from market analysts Mintel reveals.

I suspect there is a similar situation in other countries around the globe. So do you worry about your debt?

I don't have any credit card debt, but do have a car loan. I do worry about personal finances and hope not to have to get into credit card debt again or any other debt too deep.

Yeah I worry, but I also worry my DS isn't growing (17lb at 4 mo check up!) I worry my iother DS isn't learning enough (3yo, reads at a 2nd grade level!) DD isn't happy being the middle kid (spent all morning playing with DS 3mo!)

I just plain worry . though I worry less after paying off the CC, and DS's weigh in, and DS reading, and DD staying dry thru the night (wetting bed can be a sign of stress in pted kids)

I'm a worryer too. debts, kids, family, the state of humanity, it doesn't matter. I will worry whether there is an issue or not. My biggest debt worry right now is that we won't get paid off before a major catastrophe strikes.

Yes, I worry, but I know I have the cash to pay it off. I have never had real big debts, so when I borrowed 95thousand to buy 10 acres and an old farm house, I was worried all the time. I sold it (too soon) and now I wish I had it back cause I could double my money on it.

I'm a natural worrier too. I will find something to worry about whether it's money, kids, parents etc. The list goes on and on.

I worry about debt...I wish I didn't have to borrow anymore....I wish I could pay off the money I already owe...I wish I had a job that REALLY paid the bills...as it is, I feel I just patch up things and that at some moment any of those patches might give...

I wish, I wish, I wish...

I don't worry about debt because you can always declare bankruptcy if you can't pay.

I would never declare bankruptcy unless I had a severe medical problem.

I do worry about debt because it often feels like a slippery slope I can't climb back up. :P -L

Things to worry about? My kids, my grandkids, our finances, our health, getting another child, getting another job (DH not me) moving, finding a church, buying a house, I worry PERIOD!!! I am good at it. I keep trying to let God take care of things, (after all He'll be up all night anyway) but I keep trying to figure out the future on my own.

I do worry about debt, but I'm optimistic that my income will be changing in about 3 years when I become a school psychologist. So I go back and forth about worrying about my car and student loans and reminding myself that I will be making twice as much in 3 years once I get through grad school.

Yes, because I'm up to my eyeballs in it! Every time we get something paid off, something ELSE comes up that digs us even deeper.

When I had $20K worth of credit debt, I worried, a LOT. My biggest fear, was that I would loose my job, I'm in IT, and my company has been outsourcing a lot of work recently. That was in the beginning of 2005 and it was quite a wake up call. I'm happy to report, that I now owe less than $3K, and I have more than enough cash to pay that off.

It is good that you worry about it some. The couples on that Oprah show just seemed to be a daze about their debt. They didn't even know how much they owed. I have two debts and I know to the penny how much I owe on them.

I don't worry about my debt, but I do worry about my job stability. My only debt is a $60/mo student loan payment and my mortgage, which is very affordable since I was careful not to buy too much house. I work in manned space flight, though, and with all the uncertainty about the future of the space shuttle, I'm concerned about getting laid off if the next flight isn't picture perfect. My emergecy fund is only about half what I'd like it to be, so I'm socking away all the cash I can.
