Default What's your house worth?

If you have any interest in real estate (or just curious what your house is worth - or the houses of your neighbors and friends - without paying for an appraisal) you can find out all this info and much more for free at zillow.com. Put in your street address and a satellite photo will come up with the estimated values of all the houses in your neighborhood.

For those of you who keep track of your net worth, this will allow you to make a better estimate of the value of your house. Have some time set aside - I spent a couple of hours playing. Have fun!

So what is your house worth? - no listings for Japanese housing prices

Wow - awesome site!

My house is worth $370,000. Fairly close to what I imagined. According to the site the value increased $4,000 this week. LOL.

for my neighborhood, it only shows tax assessed value. Which, in my area, is 10-15% less than actual value. Plus it has no sale data. But that's probably because my area is rather backwards.

That is a neat site! Our house has about tripled since we bought it in '97, which is about what we guessed.

I rent, so I typed in my rental address. It got the zip code wrong (this site is still beta), but the satellite picture was correct. Wow. Its a steal renting here, compared with what the estimate is! The graphs are particularily interesting.

Wah, my area doesn't have any of the cool features. I did, however do a search on my old home and it shows the value as having gone up $10k (from $63k to $73k) since I sold it last year. This is one value I don't buy - the house is 840sqft and is in OKC, not a hot housing market.

How do you get this to work. I put in my address and city, state and zip. I got a map but no info on how much my house is worth. I know it is worth about $500,000. I was offered over $400,000 about 2 years ago and land has gone sky high since then> I have 2 acres on the creek and the land is going for about $150,000.

The site seems to be missing a lot of data in rural areas. If pictures of houses don't show up next to the streets, data isn't available.

The satellite pictures are current as of February 2002. I know this because I looked up my house, and it found my street, but not my exact address was not available. But, on the satellite picture was my home's and my neighbor's home foundation--the actual cement slabs! We both started building our homes in February 2002. It was kinda interesting to see the foundation of my house. Brought back memories...

My county only has stuff that I can get directly from the assessor's site, but one county up (St. Paul) has lots of data, so I hope it's coming to my county soon!

It couldn't find the area for me. We bought this house approximately 3 years ago. We bought it through a private sale so it was cheaper that way. We've been told by a real estate agent that we could sell this house for atleast 50,000 more than we paid for it. Real estate is booming here and the prices just keep going up. We love our house so we're staying put.

We built our spec house about 3 1/2 years ago. We did not know how to price it, so we priced it just a few thousand dollars over the cost. The first people that looked at it, bought it for $115,000. Now they are asking $225,000 for it.

Well my house isnt on thier but I know its probably only valued at around 75 - 80 k which is not very good considering I bought it 7 yrs ago for 60k KWIM

The housing market around here is not horrible & in the last few years just got worse cause some big companies moved out & along with them went alot of people who came here from all over just to work so the housing is I believe very depressing for sellers right now. I will hold onto my house for awhile longer not sure if I will stay forever but at least for awhile.
