Our net worth did increase by $20,000.00 as my husband paid off the last of his credit cards and two cars in 2005. I will be finished with my credit cards in November, 2006!! We will then tackle the balance of our house payments by sending in the amount Quicken recommends. We use Quicken's debt planner to pay off our bills and we adhere strictly to what they recommend.

Yeah by 422K by my calculation. TIE which I continue to hold after 18 months has been my best performing stock followed by CHAR CASM HOM and TNT . KRSYF has been my worst with a -22% return.

If you consider a home as net worth then i'm in the green for 2005.. I purchased my property back in 1999 (before the big Real Estate boom). Started building the house in mid 2003 right before I got married, and completed at the end of 2004.. The cost of my house was 60% less then what it appraised for; so I guess I can consider that a gain...
My savings account doesn't show that though, tons of expenses the first year of owning a home, coupled with installing a pool and landscaping.. |

I like to use my house when figuring my net worth because the value of the house has doubled in the 10 years since we built it.

I had a land mortgage for over $64,000 a year ago, I have paid it down to under $38,000 in one year. That makes me feel good. (Then bank didn't like it, they lowered my payments this year)

I thought it had but a surprising revelation by my DW proved that was not the case. It is rising as I pay down the last damn CC bill!

So far this year my wife and I combined put $300 a week into 401Ks, $50 a week into I bonds, $300 a week into savings, and $100 extra a month on mortage principal. I have worked a heck of lot of overtime to do all this and I plan on cutting back a bit the rest of the year.

Hmm. This is an old thread, but my net worth most definitely has gone up. The real question is, by how much? Now I'm curious.
Let me check my NetworthIQ.In Jan, '07, I was at -$7800. As of right now, I'm at +$6100. So, for this year so far, my net worth has increase by $13900.... Sigh. I was hoping for more than that. How disappointing.... But then, that's before 401k employer contribution and with 4 months to go.... Hey, at least I'm in the black now and still climbing! WOOHOO! Yes, it did. I haven't calculated by how much yet, but when I do I think I'll be pleased.

Hard to say. . .since most of our net worth is locked in our house and the market is down. . .it could have went down.
However, according to zillow.com. . .it didn't, our house is actually worth $9,000 more since I last checked about 9 months ago. I also read our local paper that home values actually increased last year 1% because the casino's in the Atlantic City area insulated the market somewhat. So, with our house being the big wildcard. . .yes, I would say we went up last year. |

i just checked with networth iq and yes, our networth went up about $77K this year. I am keeping my house value low. At the peak, we could have sold for 700K, but I am keeping my price on networthiq at 500K.
