Default Suze Orman: what do you think?

I was watching TV the other day and saw Suze Orman on it. I hadn't seen her for a long time, but it seemed to me that she was hard selling FICO in her show and their credit score. I'm curious what others think of her?

i think she's wonderful. she has opened up :financial discussions: to ordinary people, like me. I have read her books, I watch her tv show & I have learned a whole bunch from her.

She's a sell out schill who gives incorrect legal advice in addition to her ever changing(and often poor) financial advice.

She sold her self out when she promoted a GM auto loan program last year.

Some of her advice on credit cards in her latest book is nuts.

I watch her all the time but like above poster I think alot of times she gives poor advice. Something about her though I like watching her but I have not learned anything from her. I have even read her books & her books I dont like. I have watched her every weekend for a year now & I dont think I have learned anything from her. I think its interesting I guess to watch the people on her show thats about all I find intereresting but sometimes I wonder where do they find these people? Just like a talk show I guess.

Some of her advice is off-key. Her emotional stuff about money is good but her hard nose financial stuff is not for me. She talks about getting an equity line of credit for an emergency fund.

As with alot of financial gurus take what you need and leave the rest.

I always liked her....the caps, the hype, her signature outfits and, at times, poor financial advice, I still like her. I think that is because she started as a penniless waitress and worked her way up to financial success. I will always respect that in anyone!!!

Cheers Suze!

Well, the emphasis on getting out of debt is good. Most advice given by her should be gleaned through though. Take what you need and leave the rest.

I find her personable... but I fell out of love with her when she did the GM ad last year. I still TiVo her and some of her specials on real estate have given me things to think on but as the majority has said, glean what you can from a number of "experts" for your own situation.

I've never seen her on tv but I've read a few of her books and liked them.

I’m no fan, and from the little I’ve seen, she mostly hands out platitudes, but I do back her (and others) efforts to get ‘Credit-Freeze’ legislation through the Congress:

I have seen a couple videos she put out and try to watch her on TV, but a lot of the time she comes off as the "Dr. Laura" of the financial world.

She gives bad advice and doesn't answer the questions the people ask of her. I (sometimes) watch her just so I can make fun of what she says.

I agree with you, PricePlus.

I like watching her show just to remind myself to stay on task in my goals. I disagree with her often, and I don't learn anything new from her anymore since I've been watching her show for over a year now. it's good reinforcement.

Whenever she calls anyone "Girlfriend" we cringe.

Her advice is pretty good for those just starting out financially or are in debt, but the wealth building stuff seems a little weird.

My husband doesn't like her at all, she seems to have an attitude towards men. I take some advice and leave the rest, like most of you.

Her advice I can usually take or leave, but sometimes she has been outright laughing. I blogged about an article she wrote several months ago. I don't remember the specifics, but some of her savings tips were things like: "get your hair cut every 6 weeks instead of every 4" and "don't get a new car every year" . . .let's just say the more frugal among us won't be saving any money with that advice!

Right, I haven't paid for a hair cut since I was very young.

I like watching her show every Saturday. I use her books for reference and compare her advice with other gurus. I like reading her articles in O magazine also.
