Default Average Net Worth

Is there anywhere that publishes the average net worth of people in different age ranges/professions/education levels etc. I would be very interested on seeing data on this.

This is dated, but Money magazine summarizes the results of the Fed's survey of consumer finances. It is published every 3 years. The newest one should be out in about 2 months.

Wow. I didn't think 3 years would be such a blast from the past! People saving more . . . debts falling . . .homes valued at $122,000 . . .Not quite like the world we're living in now!

I wish they would've had a group for 25-34 instead of just saying < 35. At any rate, I "stack up" pretty well to this slightly dated data.

Check out NetWorthIQ. You can look at net worth by age, income level, etc. Granted, this is not a scientific study. Everything is self-reported. Still, it's interesting to compare yourself.

Wow it is crazy thank goodness I myself stack up pretty good I am 29 hard to believe how bad off some people are it makes me feel sorry for them though like didnt they learn anything about money growing up. I thankfully graduated from HS but was a teen mom & dh is a HS dropout so I guess we probably dont fit the perfect profile but one thing I know is money & how to hold on to it.

Yes, my bankrate net worth was much higher than my NetWorthIQ net worth. I was confused until I looked at the numbers again--I gave a much more optimistic value of my house on bankrate than I did on the other site!

Unfortunately, since the NetWorthIQ can't be validated in anyway, it has to be taken with a grain of salt. Plus in my age group there are only 169 profiles, so it's hardly a good sample.

Based on the dated Money article, I 'stack up' fairly well with respect to net worth for my age. Based on the NetWorthIQ, I am doing better than the median in all category's, but far worse than the average in several categorys.

I looked in my age group and there were only about 15 people, so that does not give me any idea if I have the average net worth of my age group. Most of the people made a lot more money than we do.
