American Express Black Credit Card?

I heard from a friend that American Express has a "black" credit card with no limit that can be used to buy anything. She says that you can't apply for it, you can only be invited to use it by American Express. Does anyone know if this is true or if I'm having a joke played on me?

I have heard of this before. I think it is true, but I don't know anyone personally that has one

I heard about it on a TLC program on TV- less than 1000 people have it or something.

Yes, the card does exist although American Express doesn't say a whole lot about it. It is called The Centurion Card.From their website

I was just reading a Jackie Collins novel and they kept on mentioning the black AMEX card. LOL

I would rather not have a credit card any color and just use the green.

Lol....and what a suitable color for a no limit credit card! I'm sure its considered one of those tiresome status symbols about the wealthy though.

I read that the black card didn't really exist when the rumor of it first started, but the rumor kept up and American Express decided that it would be good for business to create one.
