I went to pay by credit card yesterday Sat. 10/22 the due date and was told I was late because I didn't pay on Friday before 4:00. I ask them if they could not cut me any slack as I always paid on time in full for several years.
I was told it was in my aggreement. I am sure it is but it still make me mad to be late charged a late fee and getting a black mark when I paid on time. What about the new credit card that offers no late fee if you make one purchase a month? Is there a catch. |

Not sure what cc company you are talking about but call them on Monday when payment has processed & check & see if you were charged a late fee if so demand its dropped I just recently was able to do this. I had a cc payment arrive a day late I called the day it was due they said I could pay on the phone but since it was 5pm after 4pm it would still be late!! Well they decided to cut me some slack & they never charged me a late fee thank goodness!!

Yes call them on Monday. If you find that you have been marked as paying late ask to speak with a supervisor. Remind them of how good a customer you have been, and let them know that if they can't help you, you will transfer your cc account to a different company. Be pleasant but firm. I have a feeling that if they did mark your payment as late that you'll be able to get that changed without too much of a problem.
Please let us know how it turns out for you. |

It is good to remember that it costs the CC several hundred dollars to get a customer. It is foolish to lose one over a one time scenario like this. If the CC people play hardball then switch. Plenty of others would like to take your money. Do remind the CC company of your good record too!

I had something similar happen to me with Juniper Bank (although my payment was actually scheduled ahead of time--they didn't mention they process the scheduled payments at the END of the day even though payment is due the beginning of the day).
When I called, I reminded them that I'd been a good customer. I had to ask for a supervisor, and listen to them tell me a few times that they "couldn't" refund the late fee, but they finally did. Don't give up, and move up the ladder if necessary. They really should waive any late fee as a courtesy. As priceplus pointed out, it would be bad business for them to lose you over one late fee--remind them of that if necessary. |
