Would-Be Robbers Caught on Shopping Show

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Viewers of a late-night cable TV program called police when they realized that instead of "Shopping Mania" they were hearing an attempted robbery. Two men were later arrested.

Gary Spirito, who runs the auction program out of a rented warehouse, said viewers heard the robbers off camera demanding the keys to a car after they invaded the building late Thursday. The viewers caught a glimpse of at least one of them as they left, Spirito said.
