Gas Prices Remain High

Consumers won't likely see a big decline in gasoline prices by the Labor Day holiday at the beginning of September, the government's top energy forecasting agency said Wednesday.

The price of gasoline has risen for two weeks in a row to a national average of $1.93 a gallon, up 40 cents from a year ago, after falling for six consecutive weeks at the beginning of the summer.

"We do not expect a substantial drop in retail prices between now and Labor Day, and probably beyond," the Energy Information Administration said in its weekly review of the oil market... usatoday.com]
