The Bush administration said Wednesday that it will not seek Supreme Court review of a court ruling that lets the regional Bells deny rivals cut-rate access to their networks, raising the prospect of higher phone bills for millions of consumers.
The decision by Solicitor General Theodore Olson likely means the high court will decline to hear the case, despite plans by AT&T and other rivals to appeal, experts say... The discount leasing rules will no longer be in effect starting June 16. Still, consumers will not be hit with immediate price increases. The Bells say they will not raise wholesale rates this year.
