Default Why saving for your future is so hard

Self-knowledge is difficult to attain. Understanding the you of 2030 is all but impossible. Yet you have to plan for the person you'll become.

Just like saving for retirement. It would be so much easier if we knew exactly when our last day on this earth would be. Then we could plan better. My greatest fear is that of running out of money before I die. I don't care if I have some left over but just don't want to run out.

I fear all kinds of things, which is a tremendous motivation to save, but also to maintain relationships and to have insurance!

Good article. I look at my elderly parents and see the things they did at my age but don't do now and vice-versa. I think we tend to continue to do things we're truly passionate about if health and finances permit. Other things go by the wayside.

This is a great article. Thanks for sharing. Another challenge that makes saving for the future more complex, is anticipating the unexpected. Regardless of the path we choose, it is inevitable that life will throw “curve balls,” as my father always put it.

The current economy is throwing a ton of “curve balls.” That is forcing people to take drastic measures. Did you see the Today Show segment that discussed some of the trends? It available on MSNBC videos...it aired Monday, January 26th. I tried sharing a link, but I can't yet.

The name of the segment is, “Cutbacks you can’t afford to make”.

Let me know what you think.
