Default Porn industry seeks federal bailout

Another major American industry is asking for assistance as the global financial crisis continues: Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis said Wednesday they will request that Congress allocate $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry.

“The take here is that everyone and their mother want to be bailed out from the banks to the big three,” said Owen Moogan, spokesman for Larry Flynt. “The porn industry has been hurt by the downturn like everyone else and they are going to ask for the $5 billion. Is it the most serious thing in the world? Is it going to make the lives of Americans better if it happens? It is not for them to determine...

I think they are. It seems that even the porn kings are making wise-cracks at the government's current policies...

I think it is a lovely idea, not that I personally support porn, but then I don't support any of the 'big three' car companies either. (nor football come to think of it)

I see no reason why if the govt can help the car companies it can't help the porn industry, after all they supply a great deal of jobs as well. And America is prolly well known for it, better than cars anyway. In what country other than America would you buy an American car? On the other hand quite a few non Americans enjoy American porn........

If you are going to waste my money on bailing out a business at least do it on one with a decent chance to make money in the future.

Well, we must support American Industry or there won't be any.

At least porn is something we can still make in America that people want to buy.

This is a bit off-topic, but... You do a disservice by supporting (and bailing out) a business that is inferior to its competitors. You prevent it from making the tough choices to innovate and to become more efficient.

This is ridiculous. When will America enforce the idea of taking responsibility for oneself?

I concur. I'm not a fan of the bail outs but if they're going to do it might as well put it into a really profitable industry.

The best comment I've seen elsewhere is, "The real concern for the industry is deflation."

Its a good thing the guys and girls behind the scenes of the shoots didnt make the wages that some of the auto workers did, or the industry would already be busted....No pun intended
