It's kind of sad that it takes bad economic times for people to practice good habits of buying locally, storing nutritious foods, and thinking ahead.

I can vouch for the book mentioned, "Root Cellaring," Mike & Nancy Bubel. Gave it away, but wish I had it back.

Dug our sweet potatoes a few days ago. Did not have enough warm days to properly cure them. Will consider putting them in front of heat vent as article suggests.

This is a topic I have enjoyed sharing about with my friend from Kabul. She knows similar methods as I, but knows more about meat and milk saving. Food preservation is something we can learn about from people all over the world.

Grandma had a root cellar! I totally "dig" them.

I love canning and all sorts of food preservation. Interesting article
