Default Mixups with ING Direct customer and account numbers

"The bank assigns each person a customer number and an account number. Makes sense. What doesn't make sense is your account number may be someone else's customer number, and vice versa. That could lead to two accounts getting mixed up. If you think the odds are against it, meet William Smith."

Bank's numbering system isn't direct -- themorningcall.com

So I belong to ING. I just typed in my account number to log in, and I got "Welcome, Seymour." My name is obviously not Seymour. I couldn't log in of course, because I don't know Seymour's father's middle name or his nephew's name. Likewise, I logged in with my boyfriend's account number and got "Welcome, Luc." Not him.

So for account numbers and customer numbers to match much be pretty common. How silly. Why not start both numbers a specific way or something???

hahaha cool... I did the same with my savings account number as the customer number, just to try it out. "Welcome, Chaulun." A bit unnerving, but interesting all the same...
