Man Steals $1 - Gets 18 Months

A Spaniard was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in prison for stealing the equivalent of a dollar from a pay phone 13 years ago. The man was convicted of breaking open a phone in a bar in the city of Lleida in northeastern Spain and stealing 125 pesetas -- US$1.09 at the exchange rate then, the news agency Efe reported.
