If you've ever been to detroit, you could not pay me to live there. I have lived in Dearborn, Ann Arbor and I went to college in Flint.
They are not pretty sites (Ann Arbor was cool except for their football team). Dearborn is like the body part next to the one that smells. Flint is a miniature Detroit. Same problems, different city name. My fraternity house in Flint has had people robbed just outside it, had stray bullets hit the windows, and generally was not a place to hang out outside- especially at night.
We nicknamed convenience stores "stop and robs". I mentioned that to my wife when we went back for a reunion ("I need to stop by the stop and rob") and she looked at me really wierd.
