I think everyone cuts back selectively, rich or poor. It just depends on what you are spending your money on to began with, as to what you cut. There is always going to be someone who thinks what you spend your money on is wasteful.

I do not spend $ on most of the things list in the article. If times got tough the last thing to get cut would be my high speed internet. For someone else (or myself two years ago) that would be the first thing they cut. It all depends on the person's life style.

For me I see the high speed internet as a was to cut costs (researching at home, sending for free samples, printing coupons, etc) and a way to bring in income (finding a part time job, posting for sale ads, surveys). But for others it is just a unneeded extra.
