Robber Thwarts Own Getaway By Locking Keys In Car

A 26-year-old man locked his keys in his car when he robbed a convenience store across the street from a police station, authorities said.
Dan L. Griggs, of Gary, is accused of stealing three cartons of cigarettes about 1 a.m. Thursday from the store across from the Lake Station Police Department. He returned to his vehicle to find the doors locked, police Lt. Mike Stills said.
Griggs told a clerk, who followed him out of the store, that it was just a joke and he didn't intend to steal the cigarettes. The clerk called police.
Griggs returned to the store, ripped out the telephone cord and demanded money. He then opened the store's lottery machine, took about $50 and fled again, according to court documents filed Thursday in Lake Superior Court... Entire Story Here
