Women Writes 700 Bad Checks For $120,000

A New Jersey woman passed more than 700 phony checks totaling more than $120,000, according to a federal indictment. Nancy Bowen, 41, of Mays Landing, N.J., used the checks from 1999 to last September at retail stores in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, Mary Beth Buchanan, the U.S. attorney in Pittsburgh, said Tuesday in a statement...
