I have found that no matter what you are trying to get, whether its lower interest rates or a refund, it is very important, as the article says, to show the person on the other end of the conversation that you are upset and frustrated, but not to the point of getting really nasty. Keep it civil and maintain your position even if it means simply slowly repeating the same thought 3 times over.
