Default Stubborn Old Lady

She was offered $1 million to leave. She turned it down flat.

"I don't want to move. I don't need the money. Money doesn't mean anything," she said last week.

I have a theory.

She's small and has lost weight recently. Two gold wedding rings she wears dangle on her finger.

She doesn't say much about her husbands.

"Don't ask," she said firmly.

Perhaps she doesn't want to sell because she knows someone will discover the bodies buried in the crawlspace.

Then again, maybe I've been watching too much TV.

Not a similar story, but a similar view. A few blocks from my place, they're constructing a 5/6 stories condominium + mall all around a tiny little house.

The lady is 86, what is she going to do with the money? I don't particularly admire her for passing it up. I think it's kind of selfish actually, she could pass that money on to her family, friends, or to a good cause.

Now, if she were 30 and passed it up I might be more impressed.

I love it. I completely am proud of this lady. I'm sick of people being forced out of their homes because of retail or condo construction.
