I wouldn't do it, but I definitely respect the guy. It's a lot more admirable than choosing the easy out (bankruptcy).

Although I'm not a member of the military, nor have I served abroad, I do greatly admire those who do.

I know a fellow officer who is currently in Afghanistan teaching law enforcement to the local police there. He's a real nice guy who just wants a chance in life, and decided that Uncle Sam's offer of 100k tax-free for a year's worth of work is worth the risk and frustration.

So, yeah, I know some who are willing to do it. He actually asked me if I wanted to come along, and I told him that my BLET cert is already expired, and isn't worth quitting my current job just re-cert, re-join, and then to sign up to ship out.

What a shame the following people "took the easy way out" and filed bankruptcy:

Abe Lincoln
Walt Disney
Willaim Durant
Henry Ford
Larry King
Charles Goodyear
Ulysses S. Grant
Mozart
Dave Ramsey
Mark Twain
Dorothy Hamill
PT Barnum
Henry Heinz
Former Texas Gov Connally
Rembrandt
Jerry Lewis
Jerry Lee Lewis
Robert Kyosaki
George Friderixc Handel

This is a short list. ^^^^^
There are many more well known people.
I even read the founder of Cornell University filed bankruptcy before he founded the university.

I have to wonder if these people would have contributed to society as much as they did had they not gotten the fresh start of bankruptcy
protection.

they were offering a similar thing here, where people could apply and you would get almost double your salary to go there....I heard someone actually considering it..I wouldn't do it, eventhough I could use the money....the posts were for 6-12 months....I cannot imagine leaving my 7-year old daughter for more than 15 days...and, I'm a single mom....I cannot take that sort of risk!....I have to last at least 13 more years!! (while no age is a good age to lose your only parent, at least at 20 I'd feel she could definetely take care of herself!)

I would not, but I have a family, three kids...and I am not worth more alive than dead.

On the other hand if I were single, yeah, maybe even if I were engaged...wanting a fresh start before I had a family.

My brother on the other hand .... he is going again...he is in the army he has a wife and 4 kids.....I don't get it.
