There’s that new song you love, but you don’t know some of the words. Or you mumble those old classics because you’re not sure of the lyrics (like Manfred Mann’s “Blinded by the light … wrapped up like a deuce, another runner in the night …”).
These days, it’s easy to solve the mystery. Do a Google search of “lyrics” plus the song name, artist, or fragment that you do know, and you’ll get lots of websites with version(s). However, some sites do not provide the official version and may not be correct. Worse, websites are acting illegally if they publish song lyrics without proper authorization from the copyright owners.
Yahoo has just launched what it claims is the Internet’s largest legal database of free lyrics, with the words to more than 400,000 songs available. The site earns revenue from ads on the website, and Yahoo pays an undisclosed portion of that revenue to the copyright owners. From the Beatles to Beyonce, there’s plenty of tunes available.
So the next time you are having one of those arguments at 3:00 am about what the words to the song are, check
Yahoo! Music - Lyrics.
“Scuse me, while I kiss this guy …”
