M-Commerce
By Valerie S. Johnson
Shopping online is so five minutes ago. M-commerce is where it’s at. Use your mobile phone to buy stuff with a single text message. Once you register with a company called ShopText, you can buy CDs by Tim McGraw, make a charitable donation, or get samples of products advertised in magazines with the orange ShopText logo.
ShopText acts as the middleman: it receives your simple text-messaged order, charges your credit card, and arranges for shipping to the address you specified.
The company offers ShopText capabilities for advertising products in offline media such as magazines, newspapers, concerts, posters, television, and jumbotron.
We can’t expect text voting to be implemented for the 2008 Presidential election, but it can’t be far off. It seems to work for American Idol every week. The people have spoken, and Sanjaya is gone.
