It's always a pleasure to come across something that is both cool and can save you money. That is exactly what you get with the USBCell AA rechargeable batteries. What makes these rechargeable batteries unique is that instead of having to use a bulky battery recharger, they can be recharged using any USB port such as on your computer.
For those who are often around gadgets that have USB ports, these batteries are a welcome invention. They are especially convenient for those who travel and don't have the space to carry around a battery recharger.
The one downside is that the life of these USB rechargeable batteries is shorter than comparable NiMH rechargeable batteries. That means if you need them for use in high drain electronics, they aren't a good option. For taking photos in the daylight (no flash required) they have worked beautifully for me.
Since I do have other high power drain gadgets, I won't be throwing my set of standard
NiMH rechargeable batteries anytime soon, but they have become my selected choice whenever I travel.
These batteries were originally developed in the United Kingdom and aren't currently available at any major retailers in the US. They are, however, available through
Amazon
