Wal-Mart $4 Prescription Drugs
Wal-mart has announced that they will begin selling a month's supply of nearly 300 generic drugs for $4 instead of the $10 - $30 that they currently cost. The new pricing is currently being offered at 65 Wal-Mart, Neighborhood Market and Sam’s Club pharmacies in Tampa Bay, Fl to customers and associates. They plan to expand the program Nationwide in 2007.
Here are some of the key aspects of the program:
The $4 pricing will be available to anyone with a prescription from a doctor that can be filled with a covered generic medicine.
The uninsured will have access to this program.
Insurance will also be accepted.
The program will initially cover 291 generic medications
The generic 291 medications cover many of the most commonly used medications which include those that treat and manage allergies, cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.
In addition, some antibiotics, antidepressants, anti-psychotics and prescription vitamins are also among the 291 designated medications.
