Default Sick? Your Employer Wants You To Stay Home

American workers should stop trying to be heroes and just stay home when they're sick, it could be cheaper for their employers, according to a study. Workers who come in sick cost their employers an average of $255 each per year, according to Cornell University labor researchers.

Interesting.
I wish my employeer had this attitude. If we miss 3 times a rolling 12 month time period, (without it being FMLA covered) we are subject to displinary action, and termination after 5 absences. this includes if we are sick, our children are sick, spouse has surgery, to attend a funeral of someone not covered in our contract. even if the absence is covered by FMLA, it still goes against us on our employee evaulations. We are not allowed to take a vacation day when we are sick, as only 3 people can be on vacation at a time, and the vacation schedule is always full. I work for one of the major telecommunication companies in the US. I have been there almost 20 years.
