Hybrid Car Owners Get Auto Insurance Discount

Travelers, one of America's oldest insurance companies, has announced that they will give an auto insurance discount to drivers of hybrid cars. This discount for auto insurance complements current Federal tax credits for hybrid cars which are meant to encourage people to use of cleaner technologies that could lessen America's dependence on fossil fuels.




Travelers will offer a 10% discount on auto insurance policies for those who drive hybrid cars. Since the discount isn't being made out of environmental concern (the company's research shows that hybrid car owners are typically lower-risk drivers than the average driver), it's likely that more insurance companies will follow suit and offer a hybrid discount. This is especially true as competition grows among insurance companies to get a strong presence in the growing market of hybrid cars.
