According to a survey conducted by Opinion Research for Stephen Sapiro of goalfree.com, 34% of those who make New Year's Resolutions this year will make one that is financially related. The problem is, not many people are making resolutions anymore. Less than half (45%) of Americans will make a New Year's resolution this year. This is down from a peak of 88% who used to make New Year's Resolutions in the past.
In addition to the approximately one-third that will make money part of their New Year's resolution, here are some other findings from the survey: 47% of those making a New Year's Resolution will make one related to self-improvement. 38% of those making a New Year's Resolution will make one related to food and diet. 31% of those making a New Year's Resolution will make one related to a relationship or dating. |

IMO, there is no problem with fewer people making resolutions during New Year's. Its a rare thing when a New Year's resolution works out, as any gym operator can tell you. I'd rather see resolutions made throughout the year then followed through.
