Gift Cards - Top Gift For 2005 Holidays

Deloitte's "Annual Holiday Mood Survey" has found that gift cards will remain the number one gift purchased this year. Over two-thirds (67%) of the nationwide respondents indicated that they will purchase an average of 4.9 gift cards. Last year 64% of gift givers purchased an average of 4.7 cards for the holiday season.




Other finding from the survey:

* Approximately seven out of ten households are planning to spend the same amount of money or more this year than last during the upcoming holiday season.

* Just under 70% of consumers nationwide will use the Internet to spend a portion of their holiday budget. Purchases from the Internet will represent 21% of their total holiday spending.
