The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is holding over $73 million in tax refunds which haven't been able to be delivered this year due to some type of address problem. The average amount owed to taxpayers in these refund checks being held is $871.

In attempt to get the checks to their rightful owners, the IRS has introduced a "Where's My Refund?" section on their website. by filling out the required information, taxpayers can find out the status of their refund. If the refund has not been able to be delivered, it will give instructions on what to do to resolve the issue.




One of the most common reasons that refund checks can't be delivered is that a person has moved without submitting a change of address form. If you believe this is why you have not received your tax refund, you can call 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-3676) or fill out IRS Form 8822 Change of Address.
