Default Nicole's $20 Bottled Water Challenge

Ok, this is fun and I want to participate in this challenge of turning $20 into $5000 ( yikes!!)

My generous boss provides sodas to us ( employees on a daily basis) but has not included bottled water in our selection. Many employees usually ask the other who has an extra bottle for it ( they pay for it).

I'm going to purchase a case of bottled water, and put it in the fridge at work. I will leave a note on top of it that says " Nicole's water, but if you need one, you can leave a $1 and take a bottle"..

Is this harsh?

I wont be able to post everyday but I will try to give updates on a weekly basis.

Cheers,

Nicole

I don't think that is harsh. I think that if I wanted a bottle and someone had it I would definitely pay a $1 for it. that is not unreasonable. Let us know how it goes. your boss may not like it though! lol

Hi cycy33,

I'll track the boss's reaction too...

Bottled water is about 35 cents each wholesale, so $20 could get me 57 bottles, resold for $1= $57 - $20 ( investment)= $37 profit...

I think I could sell 3 bottles per day...

I cant start this until after the 12th.. I'm going to Canada on Friday for a family reunion..

Nicole

Hi Nicole,

I'm curious as to how your challenge is going since I too am planning on doing a bottled water sale except it would be in my husband's job where they spend $1.50 for 20 oz sodas.

I'm curious too as to how that is going. Sounds like an interesting idea. I work out of the house, so no way to sell those... at least when I buy in bulk, we save money though lol.

Hi guys,

I havent even started it. I bought the case of water bottles. I cant outright sell them, I was thinking of just putting my name on it and then letting thme know if they take one, they have to pay for it.. i think $1 is too high.. 75 cents?

Nicole

I would charge $1.00 .75 cents is too cheap, what you might want to consider is getting those flavored water, you will probably sell more and charge $1.50... Just a thought!

I am a real water lover, I drink it all day long and I "make" my own. I don't like the taste of flavored water at all. I wonder how she is doing with this?

Nicole,

I need you to start a journal...once you do, I will transfer all your old entries into your new blog...we are now featuring the $20 challenges on the front page so there should be a lot more people viewing them from the blogs. Thanks

Jeffrey
