I have never seen that one. But yes those are legit, sorta. The basic premise is you sign up for a free trial offer and you get paid to do so. For ex. you sign up for a 1 month free trial to ABC's offer. You get paid $8.00 to do so. The site that referred you gets more than that say $12-16 in this case. It is called incentivized traffic for them to pay you to do something.
There are lots around and I am starting one too. What they cannot tell you to do, is to cancel all free trials before the free period ends or else you will be charged their current monthly rate until you do cancel, which is always more than your payment.
You also earn money to click on emails and read them, do surveys (very few), etc. You can also refer anyone else to the site and make a few % of what they earn or sometimes it is a flat $5 + % when they do a cashout.
I have made a few hundred on these type sites. I have made only $100 or so from referrals.
Also, if you complete an offer for a service at one of these sites you cannot do it at another site and get paid for it from both. The company you apply for the free trial will not pay the 2nd affiliate company, so you won't either.
Good luck if you do try it!
