Default Nate - question for you

Did you by chance use the multi-user WordPress as the starting point for the new blogs? I like WordPress and use it for my own blog, and I was looking around and found their multi-user download. Just curious if that's the route you took here. My DH created the journals that DivaTribe currently has, and we're looking to upgrade/improve them.

Yeah Jeff and I like wordpress too, but I couldn't get the multi-user version to work correctly. It's also not supported by or built by the same wordpress people apparently. I don't remember the exact problem, but I still would have much preferred using that than building my own from scratch (at least at the time). Now I feel the opposite, just because it's done, and so much easier to add features to something you built yourself.

Hadn't really thought about it. It would take a bit of work to make it shareable/sellable though. I think there's far better options out there though, ours are pretty basic.

Thanks. I don't know how much time your DH has but if he has the time and likes coding I would say go for it. Otherwise I would try to get that multi-user wordpress working, and if that doesnt work there is one other that looked promising... b2evolution.net i think it is. That thing is massive.

Thanks for the feedback - I shared it with DH just now. Time is something that is currently in very short supply around here, but he's working on clearing off his freelance plate quite a bit, so in a few months he may have more time to play with the code.

Hi Nate

I have 2 questions that I need answering please.

How do you get smiles in the Blog?

Are they any instructions on how to use these? - If so where can I find them.

- vBcode You can use these tags:
[b] [i] [u] [url] [email] [img] [color] [size] [font] [left] [center] [right][indent]

I am unable to find away of using these in the my Blog, my computer IT knowledge is nil. Well if I can press a key or go onto a link or click on something that’s Ok. I would love some information on how to use these.

TIA

The above tags are used in combination such as [ b ] (I've put in extra spaces so they don't convert) and [ /b ] around a word:

[ b ]bold[ /b] = bold
[ i ] italics[ /i ] = italics
[ color=red ]red[ /color] = red

Will talk with Nate to see how difficult it would be to creat icons that would automically place these in with a click...

One more question...

in sizing a photo, I saw the note on how to size (THANKS!) but not a clue what a "normal" size or "half screen" size, etc....is there a rule of thumb or formatting guidance?

Thanks as always.

Ah good question.

You'll probably want to do some trial and error, but to get started you could try around 300 pixels width, 300 pixels height. For example, your entire screen width and height is probably 800 pixels wide and 600 tall or perhaps bigger.

Also to add onto what Jeffrey said, if you click the 'vBcode' word on the page you saw all those tags, it should open up a new window that shows how to use them.
