See I don't understand how Coupons can work when they are just various misc Branded Products.

They aren't, but the value of coupons varies depending on where you live. "target markets" like Atlanta or San Diego may have higher or lower printed values on the coupons than other places. It's up to the companies. However, the majority of the specific coupon brands remain the same.
