Default Buy Gas At Below Retail - Gas Gift Cards

Gas is getting more expensive by the day as it continues to hit new highs. While most people have probably heard of the basic gas saving tips that get passed around every time that gas prices start to rise, most have to do with adjusting the way you drive or adjusting your vehicle.

Wouldn't it be great if you could get gas a less than the local retail price? There is a way to get gas at 5% or more off the regular retail price. The key is purchasing your gas with gift cards.

Now if you buy a gift card from a regular outlet, you'll pay full retail price or even more if fees are added to the gift card. Therefore the key is purchasing gas gift cards for below their face value.

If your family pays $150 a month on gas, that comes to $1,800 a year. If you pay for your purchases with gas gift cards you bought at 5% below face value, you'll save $90. Get them for 10% below face value and you save $180.

The question becomes how do you get these gas gift cards at below face value? The answer is to buy them from people who don't want or need them. Many people receive gift cards as presents that they can't use for any number of reasons. Most would rather get something for the gift card than nothing at all and therefore are willing to sell them at below their face value. By purchasing these gift cards that other people don't want, you can get your gas for less than the listed retail price.

The biggest market for second hand gas gift cards is on the eBay auction site. You can find a variety of gas gift cards here at below their retail value.

Although a little more difficult to find, another way to save on gas is getting a Costco gift card. Costco gas stations usually sell gas at prices well below regular gas stations. The Costco gift card can be used to purchase gas at Costco gas stations. This means that you are not only getting your gas at the best price in your area, but for even less than that.

I decided to go over to e-bay and take a looksie at those gas gift cards. Seems most are going for close to face value or OVER face value. Add in shipping, and I think you're losing 5% instead of making it. Maybe one would have better luck on Craigslist?
