Default Saving Tips On Medical Related Issues

Medical Saving Tips...

  1. For health insurance, a policy with the lowest premiums isn't always the best deal, especially if the coverage doesn't address the areas you use. You will save the most by choosing a plan with the lowest price for the benefits you're most likely to utilize.

  2. If you have had large medical expenses this year, you will want to check your credit report to make sure the insurance company paid all the claims. If the insurance company doesn't, it can add blemishes to your credit record.

  3. Monitor nursing home bills if you have parents there. Nursing homes often have their own pharmacies which charge premium prices for prescriptions filled. Check the bill for prescription drug charges and compare them with local drugstore prices.

  4. Take care of medical problems as soon as they arise, preferably before you have to see a doctor. The longer you delay seeking treatment for a health problem, the more expensive it will likely be.

I use my Flexible Savings Account throug my employer whereby you predetermine the amount of pre-tax dollars to be set aside for "copay and uncovered" medical expenses. You have to estimate the amount carefully because any unused $$ are lost at the end of the year. I never lost a penny using this benefit and saved quite a bit.

Keep your hands clean. This one’s simple - just wash your hands thoroughly each time you use the bathroom or handle raw foods. You’ll keep yourself from acquiring all kinds of viruses and bacteria, saving you on medical bills and medicine costs and lost productivity. That’s not to say you shouldn’t explore the world and get your hands dirty sometimes - that’s good for you, too - but basic sanitation does help keep the medical bills away.

If you take a prescription medication on a regular basis, ask your doctor to write a three month prescription. Instead of paying three co-pays, you only pay one.

I'm saving over 35% on my prescription by making small talk w/my pharmacist. I take meds on a daily basis that does not have a generic yet. So even with insurance I have been paying close to $250 a month for the first 2 months then $90 per month for the remaining months in the calendar year. My pharmacist looked up my meds & saw that it comes in 3 dosages. He priced it out & found out that by having my DR prescribe a higher dosage & cutting it in 1/2 I save so much money.

Flexible savings acounts are great. Whatever plan you have, learning basic techniques to nurture your immune system should always be first priority.

Consume fruits and veggies with vitamin C ( grapefruit, kiwi, lemonjuice squezed in H20, broccoli). If you supplement, try to find one that is food based.

Learn basics of homeopathy (It boosts immune systems).

Hydrate with water.

As entioned handwashing is vital!

Exclamation

you will be surprised at medical web sites . that give good medical advise ---- Mayo Clinic is one of then ---- that will translate into big savings . once I had two broken ribs out of a silly accident , and finding out that the E,R could not do much for me than to tell me to get rest , and get painkillers . I did this in my own [ it was painful ] but I recovered just fine and without taking too powerful drugs --- I saved over $ 200.00 [ for xrays , and doctors fees ] with the co payment --- I also learned a great deal more about the human body ---- as always when in doubt do see your doctor or go to the E.R ------- but my case was easily to diagnose -
