How risky do you think paypal is?

My personal feeling is that Paypal is reasonably safe. Not as safe as an FDIC-insured account of course, but safe.

I think most Paypal problems are related to eBay issues, not purely Paypal issues. I'm encouraged by the fact that Paypal actually answers the phone and attempts to address problems. eBay customer service, on the other hand, is horrible and deserves a big fat F.

I agree w/ you Sweeps. I've never ever had one problem - and only had one reversal out of a whole slew of transactions. And the rate's up to 4.25%.

hello,

Im so glad i found this website. There are so much valuable information on here.
But I was wondering if you guys know how to get that $25 bonus on HSBC direct. When i click on the link to their website, they are asking for a promo code for that bonus. Does anyone know what the deal with that is?

Thanks a lot

hey there about the credit cards. Although I think that having a credit card is a good way to go. My husband disagrees. So even if we were to get a credit card, the limit probably wouldn't be enough to cover the both of us flying... Fur grand is a lot to load up on a credit card if you know what I mean. And I think that when you first get a card, they start you low, like five hundred. Just my thoughts..

A couple of thoughts....

1. Paypay is not safe or secure... I have had my account shut down on me in the past, I do not trust them.

2. I have both ING and ED, and never got any bonuses from either one.

3. I did just open and HSBC. they are at 4.25, lets see how that goes. The saving grace for me is that there is an ATM and branch location near me, if I need emergency Cash!

Has anyone explored GMAC bank... a few people have thrown this around in the threads in the past, but I havent heard any positive feedback?

thanks

You're the second or third to make this statement. Why was it frozen (shut down)? Please do explain.

You had to get the bonuses upon sign up. You can get a $25 bonus for signing up with HSBC too.

As far as the paypal, that was a few years back, and i honestly cannot remember the details, i just remember being frustrated... will never do large transactions wit h them....

I did open HSBC and I did not get a $25 offer or bonus from them either, should I contact customer service? And demand it?

thanks

That I can understand. I was talking with one of the original employees of Paypal (he's no longer there, doing his own thing now) and he said at first they had lots of fraudulent stuff going on so they would freeze an account on a whim - just to be sure it wasn't fraudulent. It was quite a time. He said now the situation is much improved.

Again though, I can only speak from personal experience but I've run tons of transactions through with them and it's as straightforward and easy (they're famous for being easy to use) as ever. And 4.26% is hard to beat!

I think you have to wait for a couple of weeks to get the bonus...

I ended up getting an account with Emigrant and i just received the welcome letter. On the Welcome letter it says to go to the Emigrant website and click on I just recevied my welcome letter or something like that but when i go to the site that option isn't there. Did anybody else have this problem?

My welcome letter said to go to View Account and Sign Up, which appears to still be an option.
